Hello and thank you for your interest in becoming a Big in the Big Brothers Big Sisters High School Bigs program. We are so excited to have you join our program! The next step in your process is to complete this application. Please note that on the “Thank you page”, once you submit your application, you will see two links: One is for your parents to complete a reference and the other for your teacher/counselor to complete a reference. Please know that both documents are required. Once your application has been received, you will be invited to attend an interview so we can get to know you a little bit better. Virtual Platform Agreement

·         I agree to participate in virtual audio/video meetings (including but not limited to Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, FaceTime) with BBBSCC staff, volunteer mentors, other youth mentees and other participants of the BBBSCC program.

 

·         I agree to make sure I have access to a smartphone, tablet, or laptop and internet access to join these meetings/activities.

 

·         I acknowledge that BBBSCC will provide a link that can be opened in a web browser to access any sponsored match activities or match support check-in conversations.

 

·         I understand that any audio/video communication may involve two-way camera and audio usage and agree to minimize any distractions during the virtual meetings and activities.

 

·         I agree to be mindful of any potential activities that may be heard/seen during the use of virtual meeting platforms.

 

·         I will ensure I dress appropriately when using virtual meeting platforms and make sure that there are no distracting materials or backgrounds.

 

·         I understand that mentors, youth and parents/guardians may not take photos, screenshots, or record video or audio from these sessions.

 

·         I will maintain the confidentiality of all participants in a group mentoring session or group match activity.

 

·         I understand that BBBSCC will not record any sessions when youth aged 12 years of age and under are present, but may take photos to share on social media or with partners.

 

·         I understand that BBBSCC may record sessions only when youth 13 years of age and over are present to share on social media or with partners.

 

·         I acknowledge and agree that if any documents and agreements completed as part of this process are executed by electronic signature, any such electronic signature shall be considered as an original signature for all purposes and shall have the same force and effect as an original signature.

 

·         I acknowledge that BBBSCC will provide a link that can be opened in a web browser to access any sponsored match activities or match support check-in conversations.

Volunteer Agreement

I consent to and understand that:

  • The references and youth serving-organization I listed may be contacted by mail, telephone, email, or in-person.
  • I am in no way obligated to perform any volunteer services.
  • I will be asked to provide my social security number. 
  • BBBSCC has the right to accept or deny program participants and is not obligated to match me with a youth. BBBSCC is not required to provide me with a reason if I am not accepted or matched with a youth.
  • Other BBBS agencies and youth organizations where I have worked or volunteered may be contacted as references.
  • As part of the enrollment process, I will be required to provide additional personal information, including completion of an in-person interview.
  • I understand that the information I provide in the enrollment process will be kept confidential, unless disclosure is required by law and with exceptions noted below. 
  • I understand that incidents of child abuse or neglect, past or present, must be reported to proper authorities.
  • I understand that certain relevant information about me will be discussed with the parent/guardian of a child who is a prospective match (this might include demographic information, information relevant to parent/child preferences, and any information relevant to a child’s safety or well-being).
  • For purposes of program evaluation, audit, or accreditation, and with the prior approval of the board of Directors, certain outside bodies such as BBBS of America may have access to records.
  • It is my responsibility to update BBBSCC if any of the information I provide on this application, in my interview, or any other information provided during the enrollment process changes (i.e. address, phone number, auto-insurance, new criminal charges, etc.). 
  • I agree to timely communication and follow-up with all agency staff.
  • To receive communication from Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Carolinas staff via phone call, email and/or text (SMS) messages.
