Volunteer Opportunities in the Colorado Springs Area

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Colorado offers several types of mentoring programs in the Colorado Springs area. Below is some information on each program. Don't worry, you don't need to make a decision before inquiring! We can help you make that choice and will be available to answer any questions you have!
Community Mentoring
Matches children 9 to 13 years old with a mentor. Matches are expected to commit to meet with their mentee for a minimum of one year. Throughout the mentoring relationship, program staff monitor the matches and provide support to mentors. Typically, mentees and mentors meet two to four times each month for two to four hours each time.
Sports Buddies
Matches children 9 to 13 years old with a mentor. Matches meet one or two times per month to participate in agency-facilitated group outings that involve attending and/or participating in sports or similar activities. While the initial commitment for matches is 6-months, our goal is to foster relationships that last beyond the 6-month commitment.

As a special focus in Colorado Springs, Bigs with Badges connects youth facing adversity with first responders – building strong, trusting, and lasting relationships. These relationships can help children develop into confident adults and build stronger bonds between first responders and the families they serve.
Mentor 2.0
Mentor2.0 is a new, technology-enhanced way to support high school students as they develop a plan for reaching graduation and their best path forward into post-secondary options. The program serves high school students at Atlas Preparatory School. This program builds relationships between a student and an adult mentor through weekly online communication and monthly in-person group activities. While we continue to support many matches who have been previously introduced, due to the pandemic, new volunteer opportunities for mentor2.0 are not likely to materialize until the Fall 2021 school semester.
