Congratulations on taking the first step to becoming a Big Brothers Big Sisters mentor! Being a Big is not complicated nor time consuming; however, it does involve a consistent commitment that will result in a positive impact for youth in your community.

To begin your application, you should:  

Be at least 18 years of age and have a high school diploma or equivalent. 

Set aside about 25 minutes to complete your application (You can save your progress at the bottom of the page and come back if needed) 

Have on hand the following documents: 

Drivers License  

Car Insurance  

DD2-14 *if former military 

Collect the contact information of: 

4 references you have known for at least 2 years (phone & email) 

Any youth serving organizations you participated in within the past 5 years

Community-Based: 
  • Flexible schedule and activities
  • At least 2 outings each month 
  • Commit for at least 4 hours each month and 1 year commitment
School-Based: 
  • Meet at your Little's school, during their lunch hour
  • 3 visits a month for at least 1 year
  • Great if you are busy in the evenings and weekends

Our Programs

Community-Based: 
  • Flexible schedule and activities
  • At least 2 outings each month
  • Commit for at least 4 hours each month and 1 year commitment
School-Based: 
  • Meet at your Little's school, during their lunch hour
  • 3 visits a month for at least 1 year
  • Great if you are busy in the evenings and weekends
Beyond School Walls: 
  • Meet with your Little at your place of work, upon your company's sponsorship
  • Only applicable if your company has agreed to fund the Beyond School Walls program
mentor2.0 *must be 21 years old:
  • Send your high-school aged mentee an email once a week
  • Meet at your Mentee's school once a month for a pre-planned event after work
  • Flexible hours for emailing through our online platform

  • Communicate with your high school-aged Mentee weekly via a secure online platform
  • Meet at your Mentee's school once a month for a pre-planned event after work
  • Flexible hours for written communication through our online platform

  • Meet at your Little's school, during their lunch hour
  • 3 visits a month for at least 1 year
  • Great if you are busy in the evenings and weekends

For our Community-Based volunteers, we require Texas-state DL, unless you are an active-duty military or college student.
