I will meet with my Big during scheduled program sessions throughout the year. I may also stay in contact with my Big through approved means.  

I will tell staff in advance if I cannot attend a program session, and if my home address or phone number changes. I know that attendance/participation of 80% of higher is required of me and my Big. Anything less will be reviewed and may result in my match closing.  

I will talk to staff every month or every other month and tell them how I feel about my match and the program. I will not keep “secrets” for my Big or from BBBS Staff and my Big is not allowed to keep secrets for me at any time. 

I will complete and return surveys and yearly evaluations or any other paperwork to BBBS Staff within 48 hours. 

I am only allowed to see my Big in-person on site grounds, BBBSChi sponsored events with staff present and approved out of program events.  

I understand that my Big may attend up to 3 of my public events per year outside of the program. Events must take place in a public setting (not at a private residence). We are not permitted to travel to/from the event together nor may we spend time together outside of the public event. BBBS Staff must get either written or verbal permission from my parent/guardian (PG) prior to each event.  

I cannot walk with or get a ride from my Big to my home or anywhere else. 

I should never be alone with my Big or in isolated situations together. My match should always be with the group or other matches during in-person program sessions. My Big cannot come with me into the restroom. 

I know that it’s okay to say “No” if someone tries to touch me or do something that makes me feel scared, uncomfortable or confused because I know that it’s okay to stand up for myself. I understand that if BBBS Staff or my Big learns something that makes them think that I may be in danger, they are required to tell someone in order to keep me safe. 

Wrestling, tickling, backrubs, full contact sports, piggyback rides and sitting on laps is not allowed among program members because physical boundaries and space should be respected. 

I am allowed to have contact with my Big through email, phone, text, BBBS’ TheApp, and video platforms (i.e. Zoom, FaceTime, etc.) if my PG returns a signed permission form allowing this type of contact and BBBSChi authorizes it. In order to video chat with my Big, my PG must be home and give their permission for me to video chat. All calls must take place in the common area of my home. 

I am not allowed to exchange home address information with my Big. 

I will tell my PG, BBBS Staff, teacher or other trusted adult if anything happens to me that makes me feel uncomfortable or scared.  

If I can no longer participate in the program for any reason, I must inform BBBS Staff of the need to close my match and the reason for closing.
