PARTICIPANT LIABILITY WAIVER & RELEASE OF CLAIMS

PLEASE READ CAREFULLY BEFORE SIGNING
In consideration of being permitted to participate in the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Los Angeles 5K Run/Walk (the “Event”), I, for myself and on behalf of my heirs, executors, administrators, successors, and assigns, hereby acknowledge, agree, and represent as follows:
1. Assumption of Risk
I understand that participation in the Event involves inherent risks, dangers, and hazards, including but not limited to physical injury, illness, death, property damage, weather conditions, uneven terrain, contact with other participants, and actions or negligence of other participants, volunteers, spectators, or Event staff. I knowingly and freely assume all such risks, whether known or unknown, foreseeable or unforeseeable, even if arising from the negligence of the Released Parties (as defined below).
2. Release and Waiver of Liability
I hereby release, waive, discharge, and covenant not to sue Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Los Angeles, its officers, directors, employees, agents, volunteers, sponsors, partners, affiliates, contractors, the City of Los Angeles, the County of Los Angeles, the State of California, Griffith Park, and any other entities associated with the Event (collectively, the “Released Parties”) from any and all liability, claims, demands, causes of action, or losses of any kind arising out of or related to my participation in the Event, including but not limited to personal injury, illness, death, or property damage, whether caused by negligence or otherwise, to the fullest extent permitted by law.
3. Medical Authorization
I certify that I am physically fit and have not been advised otherwise by a qualified medical professional. I consent to receive medical treatment deemed necessary if I am injured or require medical attention during the Event and agree to be responsible for any costs associated with such treatment.
4. Personal Property
I acknowledge that I am solely responsible for my personal belongings and equipment. The Released Parties are not responsible for loss, theft, or damage to personal property.
5. Photography and Media Release
I grant permission to BBBSLA and its designees to photograph, record, or otherwise capture my likeness, voice, or participation in the Event and to use such materials for lawful purposes, including promotional, educational, and fundraising activities, without compensation.
6. Compliance with Rules and Instructions
I agree to comply with all Event rules, instructions, and safety guidelines, and to follow the directions of Event officials and volunteers. I understand that failure to do so may result in removal from the Event without refund.
7. Severability
If any provision of this waiver is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.
8. Governing Law
This waiver shall be governed by and interpreted in accordance with the laws of the State of California.
