Youth Safety Disclaimer

Please review the following disclaimer and confirm your understanding:

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Ventura County (BBSVC) is excited for your company to participate in our effort to recruit 100 Big Brothers in 2026! Your partnership and enthusiasm is critical in helping us build a network of volunteers across our county.

BBSVC is proud to be recognized as a best-practices (SAMHSA, OJJDP) organization, and - as such - operates by strict youth safety requirements in order to best serve youth who are facing adversity: not all employees/patrons will proceed through the application process at the same rate, and not all employees/patrons who apply to volunteer may be matched with a "Little" at this time. BBSVC's policy is to not share why an applicant may not be approved for the programs with either the applicant directly nor third parties like employers.

BBSVC makes its best attempts to ensure that all applicants who are not approved for mentorship at this time are still connected with uplifting opportunities to volunteer, but volunteer opportunities cannot be guaranteed.

Employers must understand that disqualification from BBSVC mentor or volunteer opportunities is not always a reflection of youth safety concerns (example: it is sometimes determined to not be the "right time" for someone to commit to the program, etc). If there are any concerns that employers must be aware of to guarantee youth safety outside of agency programs, BBSVC will communicate that information appropriately.
