Scholarship Application 2025

The Janet E. Proctor Scholarship is awarded to a former “Little” enrolled at an accredited institution of higher education. Mentor or Mentee experience, Character, Attitude, Academic History, Initiative and Involvement in Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northwestern Wisconsin activities are factors considered in awarding the scholarship. The scholarship award is a minimum of $1000.00 paid directly to the institution indicated.

Eligible applicants are:

Former/Current “Littles” who are scheduled to attend classes in the Fall 2025 term.

“Littles” are defined as children that have successfully completed the match process and have spent a minimum of 1 year in the 1 on 1 mentorship site-based or community-based program.

Application Deadline & Award Dates

Application Deadline—July 18, 2025 - 5:00pm. (Late Submissions will not be accepted)

Scholarship recipients will be selected by August 1, 2025.

Essay (500 Word Max): On a separate document please write and upload an essay answering the following:

1. What is mentorship to you and what role does it play in the development of a child, adult and community?

2. How have your experiences with Big Brothers Big Sisters contributed to your own personal development?

1st Letter of Recommendation **Letter should state why applicant is deserving of the scholarship. Please upload: Letter must include the name of the person writing the letter and their relationship to the applicant.

If no eligible applicants are received, scholarship funds will not be distributed and will be reallocated to the next scholarship cycle. It is understood that funds awarded will be paid directly to the institution of higher education and must be applied toward tuition, books, board or fees.
