Volunteer Eligibility - Please note that applications can only be considered after three years following receipt of a DUI, or after an individual with a history of substance abuse has achieved at least three years of sobriety. We also are unable to accept volunteers who currently use illegal substances. Applicants who have been terminated from a volunteer or paid position in which they worked with children are not eligible for our program.

Application involves fingerprinting and the use of your SSN for a background check.

International Applicants: Our program requires residence in the US for at least one-year and a hard copy of your SSN will be requested at the interview stage.

Female-Identifying Applicants

Thank you for your interest in becoming a volunteer mentor with Jewish Big Brothers Big Sisters of Los Angeles. We bring volunteers into our program with the goal of finding just the right "Little,” however, the pools of Bigs and Littles change over time. Currently, we have a significant surplus of female-identifying volunteers waiting to be matched. Therefore, we are temporarily pausing our enrollment of new female-identifying mentor applicants.

We value your time and are sorry we cannot provide you with a match at this time. However, please allow us to hold onto your CONTACT INFORMATION so that we can reach out to you as soon as enrollments for women resume.
