Youth Safety Guidelines and Grounds Rules for Parents/Guardians

I UNDERSTAND MY ACTIONS PLAY A MAJOR PART IN MY CHILD'S RELATIONSHIP WITH A BIG. IN ORDER TO HELP, I WILL:

1.  Encourage my child to be considerate by having them ready on time, or calling the volunteer if plans need to be changed.  As a parent I know I must be aware and pre-approve all match outings with the volunteer.

2.  Remember this relationship is between my child and the volunteer and I will not ask that others or I be included on outings.

3.  Make arrangements with the volunteer if I cannot be home when my child is to return, so that I or another appropriate, approved adult is home.

4.  I will not expect or ask my child’s Big to purchase items for my child and/or my family.  I understand that the Big is volunteering their time to mentor, guide and provide a positive influence for my child and will not be expected to be a babysitter, parent or financial contributor.

5.  Not deprive my child of the regular visits with the volunteer as a means of discipline.

6.  Contact my Case Manager on a regular basis to discuss my child's progress in the program and any concerns. Minimum every 30 days for the first 12 months of my match relationship.

7.  I will be open to in-person meetings if/when my BBBS case manager requests in order to resolve any barriers to my child having a successful match.  I understand that those meeting requests may require all parties to come to the BBBS office.
