Our Community-Based Program allows the Big and
Little to meet at their convenience. These are one-to-one outings and
activities such as taking a walk in the park; going to a museum; listening to
music; hanging out and talking; or attending BBBS match events. Some Bigs meet their Littles on the weekends;
others get together after school or in the early evening. Each match is unique
and develops a schedule that works for them. You must be 21 years old to participate in this program.
If you have limited flexibility, our Site-Based Program may be the option for you, as Bigs and Littles meet at school during the lunch hour. Typically, you have lunch, read, play a game, work on an assignment, or play on the playground together. These activities are teacher approved and aim to support academic achievement, social skills, and self-awareness. At the end of the day, it’s really all about starting a friendship, providing guidance, and inspiring your Little to reach his or her full potential.
Currently, Big Brothers Big Sisters offers Site-Based Programs at Reid Park Academy, Billingsville Elementary, Cotswold Elementary, Governor's Village STEM Academy, Montclaire Elementary, and Cornelius Elementary in Mecklenburg County; Coltrane-Webb Elementary and Forest Park Elementary in Cabarrus County.
